Raison D’être Dance Project presents METAL + MOZART

A visual and musical experience, unleashed.

RDE reveals the company's third major production blending classical and contemporary music and movement. A concept in three acts, METAL + MOZART brings dancers, choreographers, classical musicians, and local metal band GALVANIST together to create a mind-bending, unbounded journey of original composition and choreography.

Similar in scope to VIVALDI + RANGES in 2018 and RACHMANINOV + PLUTONIA in 2022, METAL + MOZART reveals the limitless collaborative vision of Raison D’être Dance Project, and brings the audience along on an unforgettable and immersive explosion of style, sound, and movement.

Galvanist is a Progressive Blackened Doom Esoteric metal band based in Bozeman, Montana, known for atmospheric, heavy music exploring philosophical and thematic concepts. For Metal & Mozart, Raison D’être Dance Project and Galvanist are collaborating on the concept of using selected tracks of Mozart to inspire original compositions by Galvanist that focus on transposing the musical arrangements, exploring themes of unleashed beasts and the beauty of voices in harmonious chaos. Galvanist will be performing these new compositions live at the Ellen Theatre for Metal & Mozart. Band members include Micah Tippit, Chris Navarro, Kevin George and Tanner Erhart.

Whitney Donaldson artist collaborator

METALSMITH/WELDER

Whitney got her BFA at Montana State University in 2012 specializing in metalsmithing. Since 2011 she has been welding in the Gallatin Valley professionally. She has many lighting projects all over the west and also does decorative and architectural steel. Whitney still does pottery and jewelry commissions whenever possible and is always trying to find ways to mix all her favorite mediums. Her works are often client based, resulting in collaborations that incorporate the visions of her clients or fellow designers. When she creates freely, her works are typically asymmetrical and geometric. She is always learning of new materials and techniques making it endlessly fun and satisfying. The feeling of finishing a project never gets old. Whitney created the spaceship, space rubble and head props for Rachmaninov and Plutonia in 2022. For Metal & Mozart, she created hoop skirts on wheels for CREATURA, one of the collaboration pieces with Galvanist.
